A former employee of Donald Trump Law Group has told CNNMoney she was told to lie about her relationship with a man who represented the President-elect.
In a new book called “Trump Lawyer,” Lisa Bloom recounts how she was offered a job at the Trump Law Firm in Washington, DC, for $400,000 a year.
She said she was hired by attorney and Trump supporter Richard Sperling in 2016.
Bloom says Sperlin was a regular at her law firm’s offices and frequently spoke to other clients.
“I have never met him, but I was told he was a frequent client, a client of mine, for a long time,” Bloom said in the book, which was released Wednesday.
“He was a great guy.
He was a good friend of mine.
I knew him well.
He helped me out.
He paid for my lawyers fees.
He would do all sorts of work for me.
He had a huge following, and he was always in the loop.”
Bloom was hired as a lawyer for a woman who had accused former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski of assaulting her at a Washington hotel in January 2016.
The man who was representing the woman, Mark Geragos, told her he was representing Sperlings family and said she should get back to him in a few days.
“She was very shocked.
She said that Sperlers family is the same people that were at Trump Tower,” Bloom told CNN.
“It was a shock to her, and she was very upset.
I just felt like I had to speak up and I told her that there were people in the office who were involved in a smear campaign.”
Geragos said he was unaware that the woman had a personal relationship with the Trump family.
Bloom said Sperlins family and his business associates told her Sperls family and business partners were paying off reporters who were looking into the case.
Sperling, a former federal prosecutor and an associate of Trump, is a former prosecutor for the Southern District of New York, and the Trump law firm has represented the family of the late New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
